Men And Their Prostrate Gland
Posted October 3rd, 2008 by adminIn today’s world men’s prostrate gland seems to be the “talk of the town”. It has become something that all men are concerned with. Partially fear and partially denial.
Sometimes attention is created just as when your car won’t start. You turn on the ignition and nothing happens. The same can be with the urinary system. One day it works and the next day nothing happens. The pressure is there but the battery is “dead”. Instead of calling for a wrecker you end up in an emergency room.
Shortly thereafter you meet your next doctor…a urologist and the next thing you know you’re scheduled for surgery. Unlike your car, they can’t just put in a new battery! Not really understanding what they plan to do, you just go along for the “ride”. In this case, it’s going along for the relief. There are so many different procedures they can do that you can’t possibly understand them all, so you just leave your care in their skillful hands.
Once the surgery is over and you find yourself with a catheter in place and wondering what’s going to happen next. It’s only a short while afterwards that you begin to worry about the pathologists report on the tissue that was removed. Is it going to be benign and just a situation of benign prostatic hyperplasia or the feared news comes back that a cancerous growth has been found. In either situation, you have a period of healing and recuperation.
In the case of BPH that healing period can take quite a while, but the final results will be one of relief and comfort once again. If you’re fortunate and laser treatment can be used I understand that the healing process can be very short. If cancerous growth has been found there are new and successful treatments and medications available.
Whatever the results, the primary point is that men should be examined and tested for prostrate problems routinely. Early diagnosis can make you more confident of your prostatic health.
I am not a physician, but I can speak from experience and I’m happy with my results. See your doctor routinely and follow whatever instructions he may give you for your own good.
